A quoted report says DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng described restraint as a strategy in a four-hour investor meeting, outlining a deliberate AGI-first roadmap.
- DeepSeek is reportedly focusing on one main line: AGI, not near-term product maximization.
- The sequence he described is: chain-of-thought last year, agents this year, then continual learning, AI self-iteration, AI helping build better AI, and only later embodied intelligence.
- He argued DeepSeek is intentionally passing on hot areas such as video generation, 3D, and world models, saying multi-modal systems are important for products but not the core of intelligence.
- He also said the next generation of models must support continual learning, otherwise they cannot really be called the next generation.
