ATOMS raises $1.7B with a16z leading
The newsletter says ATOMS has closed a $1.7 billion equity investment led by a16z, with Ben Horowitz joining the board.
It also says the company has merged its various businesses into a single equity structure and frames ATOMS as the next step in a long-running “bits to atoms” thesis:
- Uber as the network for the physical world
- CloudKitchens as a “food computer”
- ATOMS as an OEM for atoms-based computers across major industrial sectors
The pitch is that industrial AI—software, sensors, robotics, and AI used to automate whole industries—will digitize mining, construction, heavy transport, food production, and other atoms-heavy sectors over the next decade.
