Moonshot says world models are outside its AGI mainline and not worth priority
teortaxesTex · x · 2026-07-23
The post says Moonshot is skeptical of world models and treats them as outside its current AGI roadmap.
The attached screenshot quotes a broader company stance:
- they are willing to help even competitors such as Alibaba, Zhipu, and Moonshot-style rivals because open source is seen as inherently collaborative
- their focus is the AGI “main line” only: GPT, CoT, agents, and related intelligence work
- they explicitly exclude areas like 3D, video generation, and world models, arguing these are not central to the intelligence ceiling they care about
- if others pursue those areas, they are happy to support them, but they don’t plan to spend their own time or headcount there
The main takeaway is a sharp prioritization of core AGI research over adjacent multimodal/world-model directions.
