Travis Kalanick says the most important trait in executives is the ability to solve hard problems.

He argues that great executives need both scale management and strategic problem-solving, but that problem-solving is the true constraint: without it, people may run operations efficiently while still doing the wrong things. In his view, management capacity is really problem-solving at scale.
