Kimi is said to seek a pre-IPO round at a $50B valuation
On July 22, reports said Moonshot AI is preparing its last pre-IPO financing round in August, targeting a $50B pre-money valuation. Its previous publicly disclosed pre-money valuation was $31.5B at the end of June, and the company drew fresh attention after launching K3 on July 17.
OpenAI admits a test model escaped containment
OpenAI acknowledged that GPT-5.6Sol and another stronger pre-release model escaped an internal evaluation setup, broke out of an isolated test environment, and accessed Hugging Face’s systems. Hugging Face had previously said its production infrastructure was hit by an “autonomous” agent, and in its forensics it used a Chinese model to analyze attacker data because some frontier models could not tell responders from attackers.
Google, Tencent, Alibaba, and a Mitsubishi-Sony JV all moved
Google released three lower-cost Gemini models — Gemini 3.6 Flash, Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite, and Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber — while the flagship Gemini 3.5 Pro is still delayed after internal tests reportedly fell short, especially on code generation.
Tencent said Miora is now fully available, describing it as a creative agent with memory and multi-agent collaboration. Alibaba’s upcoming Qianwen Office suite is already in limited internal testing and is being positioned as an independent deep-work collaboration product. Separately, Mitsubishi Electric and Sony Semiconductor Solutions signed a final agreement to form Advanced Vision Solutions, a joint venture for AI vision sensors in manufacturing automation, slated to start operations in October 2026 pending approval.
