Dev Replaces Fitness App with Claude + MCP, Outperforms AI Power Estimation

A developer shared their experience replacing TrainerRoad with Claude integrated with Intervals.icu via hosted MCP. In this setup, Claude acts as a personal coach, reading data directly from Strava, power files, and Whoop, then writes ride plans to the Intervals calendar which sync with the head unit.

In real-world testing, Claude guessed the user's FTP (Functional Threshold Power) within a single watt, whereas TrainerRoad's AI estimation was off by 40 watts. The author noted it was crazy to see products getting "bitter lessoned" in real-time.
