Rubin may be a compiler-stack problem, not just a hardware problem

A GPU engineer argues the hardest part of NVIDIA’s next generation, Rubin, may not be the hardware itself but the compiler stack around it.
The post says each new generation demands significantly more software work than the last: Hopper was already a lot, Blackwell was a huge lift, and Rubin is expected to be an even bigger architectural shift. The author argues the industry is approaching a PyTorch 2.0-style reset for GPU compilers, because buying newer hardware will not automatically translate into best performance per dollar.
