Claude Code creator says the model can outrun the product layer
Boris Cherny argues that we are in a new “product overhang” moment: the model can already do more than the product lets users experience.
He says this happened with early Claude Code as well—Sonnet 3.5 had the capability, but the product surface was too narrow to expose it. The fix, in his view, was building a more general harness around the model.
