The author argues that by giving a long-reasoning model thousands of copies of itself and dramatically reducing reasoning costs, then focusing on major problems like math, medicine, energy, and materials, AI capability jumps are imminent. Unreleased models from OpenAI already approach superhuman ability in certain areas, and hardware efficiency still has an order of magnitude to improve. Thus, an uneven superintelligence—far beyond humans in some areas but limited in others—may emerge before AGI.
