GitHub Copilot CLI issue proposes a separate model pool for Auto mode

A GitHub issue for github/copilot-cli proposes an explicit Auto model pool so users can restrict which approved models Auto mode may choose.

Key points:

• Auto can currently pick from all models allowed by plan and org policy, but users cannot narrow that set.
• The proposal adds per-model eligibility toggles for Auto, separate from manual selection.
• Users could keep expensive or specialized reasoning models available for manual use only.
• The design would require at least one eligible model, show which model Auto selected, and explain fallback behavior when selected models are unavailable.
• The author also suggests optional controls like maximum premium-request multipliers, credit thresholds, and reasoning-effort caps.

The motivation is predictable cost and behavior without sacrificing manual access to powerful models.
