Claude Code task tools vanished after a remote-config flip
dshah1333 · ghdev · 2026-07-22
A Claude Code user reports that the TaskCreate/TaskList/TaskUpdate tools disappeared from sessions, and the issue looks like a remote-config flip rather than a binary update.
- The same 2.1.217 binary had the tools earlier, then lost them in later sessions.
- The tool code is still present locally, but registration now depends on a remote flag check.
- The cached config shows tenguvellumash including claude-opus-4-8, claude-sonnet-5, and claude-fable-5, which disables the task tools for the models the author uses.
- The reporter asks whether this is an intentional rollback or a flag misfire, and whether there is a supported way to re-enable the feature.
