Poolside releases 118B open Laguna S 2.1 for single-node local deployment

Laguna S 2.1 is built to run locally on DGX Spark
Poolside says Laguna S 2.1 is its most capable model yet:
- 118B total parameters with 8B activated per token
- Up to 1M context window
- Supports both thinking and non-thinking modes
- Released openly under OpenMDW-1.1, with weights on Hugging Face
- Designed to run on a single NVIDIA DGX Spark
The post also includes a benchmark chart showing Laguna S 2.1 ahead of several other disclosed local/open models on Terminal-Bench 2.1. The accompanying commentary argues this is another sign that more models will be designed specifically for local hardware as local AI adoption grows.
