Waymo injury-causing crash rates come in far below NYC taxis and ride-hail

An outside critique of Waymo safety argues that Waymo robotaxis look safer than human drivers and rideshare vehicles on injury-causing crashes. The attached chart shows Waymo at about 0.71 injury-causing crashes per million miles nationally and 0.70 in the San Francisco Bay Area, versus 1.69 for all NYC vehicles and 2.12–2.28 for NYC for-hire vehicles and yellow taxis.
