SkyPilot exits stealth with $20M to unify fragmented GPU compute across five clouds

SkyPilot says it started as the infrastructure that made early open chatbot work possible across fragmented GPUs and is now launching as a company.
- The post says the team fine-tuned LLaMA into Vicuna over a weekend in 2023, enabled by a system that made GPUs scattered across five clouds usable as one pool.
- Today, teams such as Abridge, Applied Compute, HCompany, Hippocratic AI, and Nubank reportedly run frontier workloads on SkyPilot.
- The company says some customers manage 10,000+ GPUs, with GPU hours up 6x in six months and claims like 10x faster time-to-intelligence / higher GPU utilization.
- SkyPilot Platform is now out of stealth and has raised $20M led by Lux Capital.
