Pushing back against growing concerns over AI data center power consumption, the author argues that AI is far from being a major driver of climate change.
Even if AI scales out in the worst-case scenario powered by carbon-heavy electricity, its overall energy footprint would still pale in comparison to traditional sectors like transportation, heating and cooling, and industrial agriculture.
