NSA's Mike O'Hara: AI Puts Math Research Progress on 'Fruit Fly Years'

Mike O'Hara from the NSA noted that AI is drastically accelerating the pace of scientific iteration. He joked that while progress used to be measured in "dog years," we now live in "fruit fly years." He highlighted that since the launch of the DARPA expMath program in March, the field has already seen what feels like 7 generations of rapid evolution.
