Tencent App Store turns into an OS-level AI assistant
Tencent’s App Store team has launched Marvis, an “OS-level personal AI assistant” that can change system settings with one sentence, clean up files, organize documents into a local knowledge base, and even help with game play.
- The product launched only two days ago and reportedly passed 300,000 DAU with about 54% 7-day retention.
- Unlike coding agents such as Codex or Claude Code, Marvis is positioned as a zero-friction assistant for ordinary PC users.
- Tencent says it focuses on task completion, not just chat sessions or DAU.
- The product runs on-device to better understand the user’s computer, reduce token cost, and protect privacy.
- A cloud mode is also available as a lightweight Tencent Cloud container, and Marvis currently supports iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows.
Tencent’s argument is that app stores in the AI era should move beyond distribution and toward direct service delivery.
