Claude Code Max 20x users report Fable 5 wrongly demanding usage credits
imwes-CCW · ghdev · 2026-07-20
This bug report says Claude Code on the Max 20x plan incorrectly forces users onto usage credits for Fable 5, even though the account still shows unused weekly Fable allowance.
The reporter says:
- the session was auto-switched from Fable 5 to Opus 4.8 mid-session with a message saying Fable 5 requires usage credits;
- the dedicated weekly Fable usage bar was still nearly empty;
- /model fable and the model picker both failed to stick;
- the issue appeared about 16 minutes after the plan-limits timestamp shown in the account state.
Expected behavior: Fable 5 should remain selectable on Max plans and draw from the plan’s weekly Fable allowance without requiring usage credits.
