Steve Yegge says production AI depends on carefulness, not raw model capability

Steve Yegge argues that ‘carefulness’ matters more than raw capability when choosing models for production work.

He says Fable is careful, while the other models he names—GPT-5.6 Sol, Opus, Kimi, and Grok—are not careful enough for real customer-facing production use. In his view, capability comparisons miss the point: a model must first be careful before it can be competitive in production, and the rest are mostly only proofs until that changes.
