An AI professor says the best PhD email has only three things: fit, research skill, contribution
CSProfKGD · x · 2026-07-21
A professor running an AI lab says the ideal PhD inquiry email is very simple:
- I understand what you work on.
- I know how to do research.
- I already see where I could contribute.
Everything else — greetings, flattery, personal life story — is basically wasted space. The message is an unwritten rule for applicants trying to get a professor’s attention.
