Intel says a BIOS update for selected Xeon 6 SKUs can unlock 8000 MT/s RDIMM.
- The gain mostly helps CPU-bound workloads, not attached GPUs, because the PCIe link remains the bottleneck.
- It becomes more interesting with coherent CPU-GPU links such as NVLink-class systems, where faster host memory could matter for KV cache spillover.
