Solo Founder Uses ChatGPT to Facilitate Product Positioning
haltakov · x · 2026-07-20
A solo founder shared a practical workflow for using ChatGPT to optimize product positioning.
Referencing the five-step framework from Obviously Awesome (competitive alternatives, unique attributes, differentiated value, target-market characteristics, market category), he notes that simply asking AI to generate positioning yields polished slop.
A better approach is using AI as a facilitator. Instead of making decisions, ChatGPT guides the founder through each step, challenges assumptions, asks for evidence, and summarizes the results. The AI didn't do the positioning for him; it helped him do it properly.
