A scale for bias against AI systems
jacyanthis · x · 2026-07-20
A new open-access paper in Computers in Human Behavior proposes a scientific measure for human bias toward AI systems.
- The authors argue that as AI proliferates and AGI emerges, we need ways to measure human–AGI interaction.
- Their work focuses on “substratism”: bias based on whether an entity is made of flesh or of chips and wires.
- With five preregistered studies, the paper validates a psychometric scale for this kind of moral bias.
- The paper is led by Dr. Ali Ladak and is available open access.
