AMD and Microsoft announced a major expansion of their partnership.
- Microsoft will deploy AMD’s Helios rack-scale platform at scale on Azure for frontier model inference.
- The stack includes Instinct MI455X GPUs, 6th Gen EPYC Venice CPUs, Pensando networking, and ROCm software.
- Shipments are expected to start in the second half of 2026.
- Microsoft says the hardware will underpin its own AI services, frontier model partners, and enterprise customers via Azure AI services / Azure Foundry Managed Compute.
- The post frames this as an important win for AMD in the cloud inference economics race.
