Morgan Stanley sees memory shortages worsening for AI data centers
firstadopter · x · 2026-07-20
Morgan Stanley says data-center memory shortages are still intensifying, with purchasing contacts reporting no sign of easing.
- The firm sees like-for-like prices up at least 25% from Q2 to Q3, above both its own and third-party estimates.
- It also warns that memory supply will likely stay tight in 2027 and again in 2028, because AI demand is still outrunning available memory.
- The attached chart shows DRAM multiples corrected sharply while DDR5 spot pricing keeps climbing, reinforcing the supply-tightness view.
