China Launches 'Tiansuan' Satellite Plan to Deploy AI Computing in Space

At the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), Shanghai Xingshu Tiansuan Space Technology officially launched the first phase of the 'Xingshu' space computing network, with the ultimate goal of deploying 1,000 satellites.
Core Plans:
- Target Positioning: Deploying AI processing capabilities directly into low Earth orbit to drastically reduce latency and alleviate ground bandwidth pressure.
- Deployment Phases: Divided into three phases: 6 satellites in the first phase, 24 in the second, and expanding to 300 in the third.
- Computing Scale: The complete constellation will provide a collective computing power of 5 POPS.
However, the original tweet pointed out that Reuters' claim of it being "already launched" is misleading; in reality, the main satellite with 32 PFLOPS of computing power has not yet been assigned a launch date. This move precedes Musk's space computing plans on the timeline.
