Walden Robotics Raises $300M Seed Round

Walden Robotics, a robotics company incubated by the Toyota Research Institute, has closed a $300 million seed round at a $1.1 billion valuation. Led by MIT professor and former TRI Senior VP Russ Tedrake, the company argues that the current bottleneck in the robotics industry lies in deployment rather than research. Its general-purpose humanoid robots are already being piloted in North American Toyota factories, taking on repetitive tasks like loading and unloading parts, cleaning machines, and assembling components for 8-hour shifts.
