CEO Loses Lawsuit After Using ChatGPT to Evade Bonuses
RazzmatazzAccurate82 · reddit · 2026-07-20
To avoid paying up to $250 million in bonuses to the management of the acquired company (Unknown Worlds), KRAFTON CEO Changhan Kim ignored his human lawyers and late at night consulted ChatGPT for a scheme to renege on the deal.
Although ChatGPT initially stated this was impossible, under his relentless pressure and prompting, the model hallucinated and fabricated a plan (e.g., firing executives so they would no longer be "employees"). However, this AI-packaged conspiracy quickly fell apart in a Delaware court, and the CEO was ultimately forced to rehire the executives and pay out the massive bonuses.
