Google Open-Sources DiffusionGemma to Boost Research

The authors of DiffusionGemma state that current throughput and quality gaps in diffusion language models can be bridged through further research. The team chose to release DiffusionGemma with open weights, hoping it will serve as a strong foundational model to drive academic research and technological breakthroughs in the field, much like the early Llama models did.
