HandUMI: Data Reuse Tool for Bimanual Robots

ZeYanjie · x · 2026-07-19

HandUMI aims to solve the challenges of data collection and transfer for bimanual robots: collecting data once, then retargeting that same dataset to different bimanual parallel-jaw gripper robots. The author highlights several key features: data collection without the robot in the loop, modular gripper replacement, compatibility with the LeRobot v3 data format, built-in calibration and quality checks, simulation playback and real-world teleoperation support, all under an Apache-2.0 open-source license. The post also mentions it is already reusable on platforms like Agilex PiPER, OpenArm, TRLC-DK1, and I2RT YAM.
