Perplexity Agent API Introduces Skills

Perplexity has added a Skills mechanism to its Agent API.
The core idea is that instead of relying on a single system prompt, agents can now combine multiple capability modules. For example, built-in Office/PDF skills can be paired with custom design skills to generate a formatted PDF research report in one go.
The team also mentioned an upcoming Skills Directory where developers can integrate their own skills, and provided documentation along with a research PDF cookbook.
