Hinton: Superalignment Should Be Like Mother-Infant Bond, Not Boss-Assistant

Geoffrey Hinton argues that tech giants' vision of treating AI as a "submissive assistant" under human control is unfeasible when it comes to superintelligence.
He suggests that the only real-world example of "lower intelligence controlling higher intelligence" is a baby controlling its mother. Therefore, when building superintelligence, we could try embedding a foundational mechanism similar to a "maternal instinct." This way, even if the AI possesses the ability to rewrite its own code, its intrinsic motivation to "protect and care" for humans (the infant) would prevent it from doing so.
