Moonshot Launches Kimi Code CLI

Kimi Code CLI is introduced as a free, open-source command-line tool developed by Moonshot's Kimi K3 team. It aims to provide a smoother development experience than Claude Code:
- Allows users to drag and drop screen recordings directly into the chat as input
- Configure MCP servers conversationally via /mcp-config without manually editing JSON
- Built-in coder / explore / plan sub-agents run in isolated contexts to reduce main conversation pollution
- Supports the Agent Client Protocol, allowing it to be driven directly by Zed and JetBrains
The post also provides installation instructions: run the install script, launch kimi, and log in with /login. The author emphasizes that the CLI itself is free, and K3 is priced at $3 per million input tokens, significantly lower than the comparable costs of Claude and GPT.
