Rumor: CMP 170HX VRAM Unlocked
rm_rf_all_files · reddit · 2026-07-19
A new unlocking method for the NVIDIA CMP 170HX has been shared: originally limited to 8GB of HBM2, a public exploit could theoretically unlock the VRAM capacity to 64GB or more.
The post also notes:
- The unlocking process is still in its early stages
- The card remains very cheap, around $200 in some regions
- If successful, performance might approach the 5090, but with significantly more VRAM
- It does not support FP8/FP4, making it better suited for image/video tasks using INT8 convrot or BF16
Overall, it's a hardware tweaking post focused on getting "low-cost, high-VRAM compute."
