Sekhar, whose father has frontal lobe dementia, began thinking about his own future care needs and wanted to avoid burdening his husband Jim. With help from ChatGPT and Codex, he and founding volunteer Katie Brandt created a free tool called Foreguard that helps families apply for public benefits they already qualify for and plan private insurance (life, disability, long-term care) based on family history. The tool emphasizes that with a monthly budget of just $100, families can build financial protection equivalent to 'millions of dollars from day one'. Their goal is to enable families to prepare earlier and more clearly, rather than waiting until care decisions become urgent.
