Merge Launches Embeddable LLM Routing Stack
shensi · x · 2026-07-17
Merge has released an LLM routing stack that can be directly embedded into products, aiming to provide AI products with "model sovereignty."
Core capabilities include:
- Allowing customers to bring their own API keys and manage their own budgets
- Switching models directly within the product
- Setting fallback rules, model whitelists, and other policies
- Optimizing cost, performance, or capabilities on a per-customer basis
The author believes that forcing a single-model strategy on users will become increasingly unacceptable, and allowing users to engage with products using their preferred models is a much more rational direction.
