A developer used Claude Code to build a mobile/web app called Frateca from scratch, converting arbitrary text into high-quality audio:
- Supports web links, Substack/Medium, PDFs, and copied text
- Can also take photos or upload images, extracting text before reading it aloud
- Generated voice audio can play in the background like a podcast/audiobook
- Privacy-first by default, requesting no unnecessary permissions; access is only needed when you actively share files
The tech stack includes React Native (Expo), Node.js, React Web, and Framer Landing. The author notes the app is live on iOS/Android, with a web version also available.
