Run Local LLMs via P2P Distributed Network

Regular-Option6067 · reddit · 2026-07-17

DaiHive is a P2P network for running local LLMs across multiple machines.

The core idea is to eliminate the need for a single high-end machine by partitioning a large model across multiple workers on the network, allowing users to send inference requests just like a standard model. The author highlights a private/team mode feature, which allows combining idle office computers into an isolated pool to run models too large for a single machine, without connecting to the public network.

Although still in beta, the project is practically usable with frequent updates to both the worker and UI. The author is seeking early testers and feedback on the worker/UI, as well as input on which model families to prioritize next.
