Netflix Uses GenAI in 300 Projects

Netflix revealed in its latest quarterly earnings that roughly 300 film and TV projects utilized generative AI this year. The tech spans concept art, pre-vis, filming, and post-production, with the majority of use cases occurring in post.
Examples include Glory, Brasil 70: A Saga do Tri, and The American Experiment, where AI was used for crowd generation, battle scenes, and world-building shots—content that would be prohibitively expensive or impossible to achieve traditionally.
Additionally, Netflix acquired Ben Affleck's AI studio, InterPositive, for up to $600 million in March. Affleck now serves as a senior advisor developing generative AI tools for filmmakers. The overall takeaway is that the film industry has transitioned from "R&D experimentation" to treating AI as a "standard tool."
