Compute Dictates the AI Competitive Edge

The author's central thesis is: Even if China and the US possess equally powerful AI, whoever can mobilize more compute will deploy more AI and thus gain the upper hand.
He uses a blunt analogy to illustrate this "scale advantage": it's far better to have 10,000 "American Mythos" fighting 100 "Chinese Mythos" than the other way around.
Another point raised in the discussion is that restricting chip exports to China could backfire in the long run. It might stimulate domestic substitution and push China closer to the technological frontier, ultimately resulting in a "lose-lose" scenario.
