Researcher: Kimi Lags Anthropic by 8 Months
RyanGreenblatt · x · 2026-07-17
AI researcher Ryan Greenblatt quantified the capability gap between models in a tweet. He clarified that when stating "Kimi is about 8 months behind Anthropic in overall model strength and usability," he based this on a smoothed comparison of their evolutionary trajectories.
To justify this assessment, he pointed out that Mythos Preview, released by Anthropic roughly 5 months ago, already offers far greater practical usability than the previous AI Opus 4.6, and is highly likely significantly superior to the current Kimi K3 model.
