The author speculates that Google might avoid the "next-gen giant model flop" trap that Meta hit with Llama 4 and xAI faced with Grok 4. So far, OpenAI's Orion/GPT-4.5 seems to be the only one that didn't lose its leading edge due to this issue.

Cited reports, however, claim that Google's Gemini 3.5 Pro is already months behind schedule. The company recently updated its Gemini training data to boost capabilities, particularly in AI coding, but internal feedback has reportedly been "disappointing."
