Commenters point out that Turso's attempt to rewrite Postgres in Rust using SQLite bytecode and the LLVM framework is an incredibly ambitious technical challenge.
If successful, the database layer would no longer be an either-or choice between different ecosystems but could be directly compiled as a target. To prove the versatility and raw power of its underlying execution capabilities, the team successfully ran the classic game DOOM on unmodified SQLite bytecode—an absolutely mind-blowing hardcore demo.
