Emerging from stealth, Walden Robotics built a wheeled, upper-body humanoid robot. Featuring dual arms and a stereo vision head without legs, it prioritizes reliability over complex gaits.\n\nIt is already deployed in North American Toyota factories, executing 8-hour shifts that include transporting parts, cleaning equipment, kitting, equipment monitoring, and tool preparation. It continuously learns and collaborates with humans via "Physical AI".\n\nThe company secured a $300 million seed round co-led by Toyota and Deviation Capital, valuing it at $1.1 billion. Led by Russ Tedrake, the core team spent nearly a decade at the Toyota Research Institute, with underlying technologies including Diffusion Policy, UMI, OpenVLA, and Large Behavior Models.
