OpenAI Launches CodexMicro Keyboard
APPSO · wechat · 2026-07-16
OpenAI and peripheral maker WorkLouder have jointly released a co-branded keyboard for Codex called CodexMicro. Priced at $230, it is available for pre-order and expected to ship on July 24.
This device isn't a standard keyboard; it acts as a "remote control" and status panel for the Codex agent. It features 13 mechanical keys alongside four input methods: touch, knobs, and a joystick. The keys handle high-frequency actions like accept/reject, push-to-talk, and new chat. The joystick can trigger workflows like reviewing PRs, debugging, and refactoring, while the knob adjusts Codex's reasoning level in real-time. Additionally, the RGB lighting reflects the agent's status: thinking, running, waiting, completed, or idle.
The article notes that it is essentially a customized co-branded version of WorkLouder's existing CreatorMicro product. While the hardware itself isn't new, it highlights a shift in work patterns: as AI agents become high-frequency collaborators, physical keys, status lights, and voice inputs may become a standard part of a programmer's daily routine.
