teortaxesTex · x · 2026-07-16
Speaking at the Aspen Security Forum, Tarun Chhabra, Anthropic's head of national security policy, stated that Zhipu has been distilling Claude and OpenAI models for GLM-5.2. This marks the first time Anthropic has explicitly named Zhipu, having previously called out DeepSeek, Alibaba, Moonshot, and Minimax.
He added:
- DeepSeek continues its "adversarial distillation activities"
- Anthropic now shuts down "millions" of distillation accounts weekly
- GLM is considered potentially the "most advanced Chinese model" currently on the market, posing a significant cybersecurity challenge
- Anthropic will expand access to Mythos to ensure cyber defenders have a "fair playing field"
