Meta Sued for Using AI in Layoffs
fortune · reddit · 2026-07-16
26 Meta employees have filed a lawsuit alleging that the company used AI systems, keystroke/activity monitoring data, token monitoring dashboards, and algorithmic performance rankings during layoffs, negatively impacting workers on medical, parental, or family caregiving leave.\n\nThe complaint states that these scoring systems are designed in a way that prevents employees on protected leave from accumulating enough points, and that Meta failed to adjust for leave and reasonable accommodations before making termination decisions. According to the original text, out of the 8,000 related layoffs, the 26 plaintiffs are currently still employed, with their termination dates set to begin on July 22.
