Reports indicate that AI data center construction sites are becoming prime targets for copper cable and equipment theft. Two recovered trailers near Chicago collectively carried about $1.3 million worth of stolen data center materials.
One trailer contained roughly $300,000 worth of copper wire from an Alabama theft, while the other held about $1 million worth of infrastructure equipment stolen from a Florida site.
