Tensorlake Sandbox Storage Engine Revealed

Tensorlake has disclosed the custom storage engine design behind its Sandboxes: inside the guest, it achieves near-SSD IOPS, with approximately 66,100 random reads and 65,000 random writes (4 KiB), and sequential writes around 4.7 GiB/s. They also emphasized that sandbox snapshot speeds remain stable in the tens to hundreds of milliseconds, almost unaffected by the amount of data on the VM disk. An accompanying blog post details the complete design and benchmarks for running PostgreSQL in Firecracker, illustrating that this storage layer is purpose-built for high-performance sandbox scenarios.
