Claude Restricts Moving Project Chats
anonyuser415 · reddit · 2026-07-15
Users noticed a new restriction in Claude: chats with project-only memory enabled can no longer be moved into or out of projects.
The poster noted that this limitation significantly diminishes the utility of project-only memory. Previously, they would control memory exposure by moving chats into a project and then out again to reduce hallucinations and adapt to different workflows. This workaround is now defunct, and even branched chats cannot bypass the restriction.
